Flax seeds are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acid essential for hair growth. Omega-3 fatty acid help improve hair elasticity too. They nourish the follicles and hair shafts, making them stronger and less prone to damage.

Flax seeds also a rich source of Vitamin B1, Manganese, Copper, and Dietary Fiber (soluble and insoluble) which means it’s helpful for maintaining normal bowel movement and remedy constipation.

They are also a good source of Phosphorous, Magnesium, and Selenium.     Apart from using it as a topical treatment, consuming the seeds can also be a greatly benefit you in terms of hair growth.

Best ways to eat the flax seeds

1) Roasted Seeds: It’s recommended to eat flax seeds after dry roasting or now days in most of the time you get the packs which are dry roast only so try preferring to buy that only. This way they are easy to chew and plus roasting eliminates anti-nutrients in the seeds which can block the absorption of other mineral. You can eat directly when you feel like munching and if you want can add these with your salads, sandwiches or smoothies.



 

2) Ground seeds: you can grind these seeds if you feel like difficulty in eating as whole .this way you can add this in making any type of bread like parathas or chapattis.

 

3) Soaking: Soaking flax seeds overnight greatly increases their nutritional value and also eliminates anti-nutrients such as phytic acids. That is again most easy way to use them.


Caution: Flax seeds contain cyanogen and should not be consumed in large quantities due to its neurotoxic effects.  1 to 2 tablespoonfuls a day is a safe and effective dose. Since flax seeds are slimy and sticky, make sure to take them with plenty of water or other liquids to increase their mobility in your gut.
